Pulsating disc over South Africa

Cynthia Hind appearance on M-Net in Johannesburg, 17th April 1997,  taken from UFO AFRINEWS NUMBER 16.

On the night of 28th August, 1996, Nico and several other policemen had seen a strange light in the sky. He had videotaped it and on the show, it was my first view of the actual object. It had been pointed out to me by one of our readers that Venus had been particularly bright on that night, and he suspected that this was what the policemen were seeing. I initially agreed that this was a strong possibility as apart from Venus, people often discount autokinesis; that is, when staring at a star for a fixed period of time, it often appears to move up and down and sideways - an experience I have witnessed myself on several occasions.

But having seen the video and listened to the evidence of helicopter pilot Supt. Viljoen, I changed my mind. If indeed the skies had been clear on several evenings (which they were), how come no one had noticed Venus brightness on these other evenings? Also,  the strange segmentation and colouring of the object as seen on TV, was quite new to me. There was no doubt of the pulsating of the object, something which the Supt. had mentioned before. I also noticed the 'falling leaf' motion of whatever it was, something typical of UFOs.

My informant had also pointed out that Venus disappeared with the sunrise, and yet Fred Viljoen assured me that he could still see the 'thing' quite clearly, well after sun was up.

(I do know that Venus is visible during the day but would be extremely difficult to see after sun rise: Gunter Hofer).

Taking into account that Venus was very bright at this time,
it appears to be an obvious solution. But on the 28th August,
the zenith reached by Mars was 45 degrees at 5:30am (approx.) and yet Viljoen talked of between 10 and 11 o'clock. Other police witnesses put this at 70 - 80 degrees above the horizon.

HOT OFF THE PRESS (UFO Afrinews no. 18) : A reliable source reported to Cynthia that these policemen chased one of DENE/ARMSCOR'S latest RPV ( Remotely Piloted Vehicle) or 'drones' as they are sometimes called. They fly at first below the speed of sound and have almost no radar cross-section, so it was no wonder that Wonderboom and Waterkloof didn't pick it up on radar. According to Cynthia this is the third time in UFO investigation that she has come across something from Armscor - something the public is not aware!
